AND ADDRESS OF THE ORGANIZATION
The
Organization is called THE CHILDREN OF LIGHT ALL FOR JESUS
The
Organization is fully registered in accordance with the laws and guidelines of
the Republic of Uganda, NGO Act (Cap 2007) and other relevant statutory regulations
or legal instrument.
The
Organization shall be affiliated to Non-Governmental Organization, national and
international networks with similar goal and objectives and shall collaborate
with the Government in execution of the project mandate and that of the
Government.
The
Organization is an independent, non-profit making body, non-partisan and shall
keep within its mandate in accordance with the provision of its constitution
and other rules, regulations made under it.
THE
GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE;
The
Children of light all for Jesus at this moment is majority operating in the sub
counties of Bungatira and Laroo division in Gulu District, but as time goes on
it might expand its services to other areas.
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
The
children of light all for Jesus is a faith based
organization working to support the vulnerable children who are encountering
various challenges in their lives. Some of the problems these children are
meeting are lack of parental love, inadequate health support, lack of basic needs
to mention but a few. The horrible life these children are going through was
due to long insurgency in Northern Uganda which claimed many lives and that is
why the negative consequences is now affecting many children.
In
delivering these services, we are dwelling our supports in Bungatira
sub county Gulu district basing on a number of reasons/needs namely; many total
orphans whose parents were killed, trauma minded children, children with
disabilities, child mothers, children living with HIV/AIDS, children in worst
form of child labor, children in child headed families, dropout children from
school/homes and children living with elderly/parents or guidance with severe
disabilities.
The
objectives of participating in these activities is to
help our vulnerable children out of these bondage of suffering and through this
we intend to, work closely with the government in promoting universal primary
education(UPE), provide psychosocial supports to the needy and economically
empowering the disadvantage families/households.
In our
operation for the last 2 years, the organization
registered, selected and supported some vulnerable children considering their
conditions across the sub county of Bungatira in Gulu district. Most of the
supports were zeroed down to psychosocial supports as well as educational
supports. These activities are ongoing to motivate them keeps on attending
schools as the government requires

To
enable vulnerable children to reach their optimum potential so that maximal
function is achieved in their society through accepting Christ, and live to
their potential and rights as well as aspiration are fulfilled so that they may
overcome many of the barriers that they and their Caregivers,
families/households face.

OF THE ORGANIZATION
To
create a platform for orphans and other vulnerable children for enjoyment of
God’s gifts and love and fulfillment of responsibilities.
To
provide high quality, specialized and affordable physiotherapy to critically
vulnerable children.
To
provide training, education and support to families, caregivers, households and
the communities.
OVERALL
OBJECTIVE
The
strategic objective of this Organization is ’’ To scale up the institutional
response to reach the critically and moderately vulnerable children’’.
STRATEGIC
OBJECTIVES

To create a platform for orphans and other vulnerable children
for enjoyment of God’s gifts, love and the fulfillment of responsibilities.

To provide occupational therapy, physiotherapy and
rehabilitation to children aged 0-16 in order to help them to meet their
developmental goals
·
To develop a family-centered environment that can provide
information, support, advocacy and networking for families, caregivers,
households and their communities
·
To improve the economic security to orphans and other vulnerable
children, their caregivers and families/households.
·
Develop partnerships with local medical centre and other similar
organizations to enhance our services.
·
To provide relevant information that will engage and empower the
community to make informed choices in relation to their health.
·
To lobby and advocate for fair policies/regulations that affect
the daily life of the vulnerable children, caregivers and families through
research and networking so that it increases access to protection.
·
To expand the provision of essential services to orphans and
other vulnerable children, caregivers and families/households.
·
To maintain the financial and ethical integrity of the
organization through sound transparency, trust accountabilities, record keeping
and up-to-date management practices.

The
CHILDREN OF LIGHT ALL FOR JESUS is a membership organization that has come
together focusing on the children spiritual development and wellbeing, but will
work closely with established civil society organizations, the local government
and other development actors both nationally and internationally that share
common goals and mandates.
TARGET
GROUP;
CLAJ basically
works mainly for the poorest of the poor in the rural areas. Its target groups
include women and children in the rural communities in the sub counties who are
still living in miserable conditions and deprived of very basic necessities of
life. For example;

in worse forms of child labour ( Commercial sexual exploitation, illicit

suffering due to sexual gender based violence as post war trauma in northern
Uganda

in poverty stricken ( impoverished) households

living with the elderly or parents/guardians with server disabilities

WORKING;
CLAJ has
always promoted the networking with other NGOs, CBOs, CSOs, media groups and
concerned stakeholders for achieving the goal of sustainable development.
Networking with other organizations has always proved very productive by
playing as medium between the service providers and those at the receiving end.
Networking basically provides opportunity for looking at the issues from different
angles i.e. from local, national and finally at regional level. At every level
the perspective of issue changes, which then helps in comprehending the issue
.
ORGANIZATION
STRUCTURE;
This is
fully an independent organization working through the guidance and direction of
its top management and that is why there is yet partial Board members in place.
The organization is also run by technical staff to help execute its activities
work plan and this personnel are under technical management, then at the lower
level we have support staff.
